Profile
Xia Yongyao, Ph. D. in Engineering and doctoral supervisor, is a distinguished professor of Fudan University.
In 1987, graduated from the Chemistry Department of Zhejiang Normal University;
In 1990, obtained the masters degree in electrochemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Jilin University;
1990-1993, worked at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences;
In 1997, received the Ph. D. in energy and materials science from Saga University in Japan, and employed as a lecturer of the university;
In 1998, went to the Department of Chemical Engineering in South Carolina, USA as a postdoctoral researcher;
1999-2001, postdoctoral researcher at the Osaka Industrial Technology Institute;
2001-2002, worked at the Hitachi Maxell Company Battery Development Center; and,
In 2003, returned to work in the Department of Chemistry, Fudan University.
 
He mainly engaged in research on new energy storage materials and technologies, including lithium-ion batteries, electrochemical capacitors, and new battery systems. He has published 297 SCI papers, such as Nat. Chem., Sci. Adv., Nat. Commun., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Energy Environ. Sci., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., and J. Electrochem. Soc. His papers have been cited for more than 18,000 times, with 700 times citation in a single article. He has 59 patent applications and authorizations. In 2003, he returned to China and has presided over more than 30 projects, including the National Key R&D Program (Chief Scientist), Ministry of Science and Technology “973 Program”, “863 Program”, key and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and cooperative projects of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and enterprises. He has transferred a number of patents, and his many R&D materials and technologies have been industrialized or Industrialization demonstration application.
 
Honor
In 2002, received the Electrochemical Society of Japan Journal Excellent Paper Award;
In 2005, elected as the New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education;
In 2009, awarded the Outstanding Youth Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Outstanding Leading Academic Leader;
In 2015, won the “Electrochemical Contribution Award” of the Chinese Society of Electrochemistry, and the 2015 Natural Science First Prize of the Ministry of Education (ranked first);
In 2016, obtained the Shanghai Society of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Zhuang Changgong Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Progress Award;
In 2108, awarded the Electrochemical Society (ECS) Battery Division Technology Award. Editor of J. Power Sources, Editorial Board for Scientific Reports.
 
He also serves as editor of J. Power Sources, and editorial board members of the Scientific Reports, Acta Physico-Chimica Sinica, Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society, Journal of Electrochemistry, Chinese Journal of Power Sources, and Chemical and Physical Power Sources. He is currently Director of the Chinese Society of Electrochemistry.
