115th Anniversary of Chairman Mao’s Birthday
“It is my will to join the Communist Party of China, uphold the Partys program…be ready at all times to sacrifice my all for the Party and the people, and never betray the Party.” On 26th December, 888 student probationary Party members of XTU raised their right hands and joined the Communist Party of China in front of the bronze statue of Chairman Mao. On the same day, the students and teachers of XTU carried on various activities to celebrate the 115th anniversary of Chairman Mao’s birthday.
At the statue square, all the teaching staff and students of XTU gathered ceremoniously in memory of Chairman Mao. The memorial was hosted by Huang Jianxin, vice-party secretary of XTU, and attended by Tan Daoxiong, chairman and president of Hunan Coal Industry Group and leaders of XTU such as Luo He’an, Huang Yunqing, Li Bochao, Dai Feijun, Chen Xiaoming, Zhou Yichun, Wang Jiping, Ning Jianmin and Xia Guohua.
Luo He’an, on behalf of XTU, and Tan Daoxiong, on behalf of Hunan Coal Industry Group presented flower baskets to the statue of Chairman Mao and made a low bow to the statue. After the national defense students escorted the party flag to the square, all the 888 student probationary Party members raised their right hands and took a solemn oath in front of Chairman Mao’s bronze statue. They gloriously joined the Communist Party of China. They extended their respect to Chairman Mao in this special way.
Luo He’an emphasized in the speech that all the students and teachers of XTU need to emancipate our mind and to work hard with a pioneering spirit at the new historical starting point, so as to remember Chairman Mao’s care for our university. We need to live up to Chairman Mao’s expectations and accelerate our pace of construction. Our goal is to make XTU a first class university and to contribute to China’s development as well as to the prosperity of Hunan province.
At the night of 26th December, all the teaching staff gathered together for a New Year party, called Merrily Gather, which was organized by the union of XTU. University leaders such as Huang Jianxin, Dai Feijun and Xia Guohua also attended the party to remember the great person and to send their best wishes for the New Year.
Since 21th December, all the teaching staff and students of XTU have been actively posting topics online to appeal for the remembrance of Chairman Mao. These activities were warmly welcomed by the netizens, who said that they would like to express their love for Chairman Mao in practical action. Since the early morning of 25th December, many students and teachers came to the statue square spontaneously to pay their respect to the Chairman Mao’s statue. They expressed their love and gratitude for Chairman Mao’s care for XTU.
