U.S. Massachusetts Legal Delegation visits XTU
On May 18, a U.S. legal delegation visited our university, which was made up of 13 members, including the judges from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Massachusetts Appeals Court and Massachusetts District Court, professors from University of Massachusetts, and professors from Northeastern University etc., under the escort of Mrs. Bai Xiaolin from the Consul General of Consulate General of the United States of America in Wuhan, leaders from Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Province and Foreign Affairs Office of Xiangtan Municipality. And International Exchange Center warmly received them on behalf of XTU.
During this visit, the delegation made an in-depth exchange with Law School of XTU on the issue of Evidence in Civil Trials. On the morning, Prof. Margaret Woo from Northeastern University and another three delegates made an academic report; on the afternoon, Judge Sydney Hanlon from Massachusetts Appeals Court and another delegate started a lively discussion with the professors from Law School of XTU. Several delegates, including Peter Anderson, the leader of the delegation, Prof. Edmund Beard, Senior Advisor in the Office of the President, University of Massachusetts and Mrs. Erica White, Project Manager of University of Massachusetts discussed with the professors of Law School of XTU about the exchange and cooperation between the two sides and invited them to take part in the their cooperative projects. During the exchange, the U.S. Massachusetts delegation highly praised the scale, strength, and the enthusiasm and level of the students participating in academic research of Law School. At last, the exchange ended in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The day before that day, the delegation visited Mao Zedongs Former Residence, Mao Zedong Square, and Comrade Mao Zedong Memorial in Shaoshan, accompanied by people from Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Province and International Exchange Center of XTU.
