The 19th International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods Held in Zhangjiajie
The 19th International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods was held in Zhangjiajie of Hunan Province on August 17-22, 2009, which was hosted by Domain Decomposition Methods Organization, School of Mathematics and Computational Science of XTU and Hunan Key Laboratory for Computation and Simulation in Science and Engineering and organized by School of Mathematics and Computational Science of XTU and Hunan Key Laboratory for Computation and Simulation in Science and Engineering. More than 120 representatives (80 oversea experts) attended this conference, who were form more than 20 countries and regions including Chinese Mainland, America, Germany, France, Britain, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Poland, Korea, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc. 12 experts were invited to make a report at the conference, such as, Academician Shi Zhongci, Prof. Zhou Aihui from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Huang Yunqing from XTU.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Xu Jinchao, Director of Center for Computational Mathematics & Applications of Pennsylvania State University and Head of Institute of Mathematics and Computational Science of XTU. Prof. Huang Yunqing, the Vice President of XTU and Chairman of Organizing Committee delivered a welcome speech. Prof. Ralf Kornhuber, Chairman of Domain Decomposition Organization Scientific Committee, who was also from Free University of Berlin, made an opening speech. The conference took a form of 12 invited papers, 88 group reports and free reports, which were done at one main meeting place and three sub-meeting places. Those reports involved the latest progress and achievements of computing mathematics research field and many intersectional fields, for example, domain decomposition methods, multi-grid methods, adaptive finite element methods and parallel computation.
International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods is Academic Pageant Series in the field of international computing mathematics. The first session of international meetings began in Paris in 1987. Meetings have been hosted in China --- the 8th International Conference held in Beijing and this conference held in Zhangjiajie. And the next International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods DD20 will be held in UC San Diego of America.
