More than 60 Experts and Scholars Gather at XTU Discussing Mao Zedong Philosophy and Modern Chinese
From October 21 to 22, the symposium "Mao Zedong Philosophy and Modern Chinese Philosophy" was held in XTU. It was hosted by the Chinese Modern Philosophy Institute, College of Philosophy & History Culture of XTU, Mao Zedong Thought Research Center and Xiang Learning Institute. There were more than 60 experts and scholars from the Party School of the Central Committee of The CPC, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peoples University of China, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Nankai University, Hunan University and other universities and research institutes getting together to discuss and exchange research achievements of Mao Zedong philosophical thought.
On the morning of 21, the opening ceremony was held at Academic Hall 1 of the Yifu Building, which was presided over by Vice Chairman of the Chinese Modern Philosophy Institute. Huang Yunqing, Vice President of XTU, Xu Quanxing, Chairman of the Chinese Modern Philosophy Institute, Liuhong, Vice Chairman of Social Science Association of Hunan Province attended it.
On the opening ceremony, Prof. Huang Yunqing introduced the basic situation of XTU and achievements made in the study of Mao Zedong Thought. XU Quanxing indicated in his opening remarks that Mao Zedong was a great man in the 20th century, for he was not only was a great revolutionist, military strategist, poet, but also a great philosopher. His philosophy is the summary of experience of Chinese revolution and construction. In addition, it is a guide and application for Chinese revolution and construction. Mao Zedong philosophical thought often affects the development of Chinese society and Chinese peoples spiritual life, which has a very high theoretical research value. Liuhong delivered a speech from three aspects including how to make a comprehensive, systematic, accurate and scientific understanding of Mao Zedong Thought further, the relationship between Mao Zedong philosophy and the Chinese modern philosophy and inheritance and development of Mao Zedong Thought.
During the 2-day symposium, a total of 35 papers were submitted to the conference. The conference consisted of two branch halls, where more than 30 professors and experts made a speech for 6 times. 10 professors including Cang Nan, Song Zhiming, Sun Weiping etc. made a plenary lecture. The scholars believed that the formation and development of Mao Zedong philosophical thought which is the representative of the Chinese Marxist philosophy marks the realization of the modern transformation of Chinese philosophy and opens a new chapter in the history of modern Chinese philosophy.
