The Delegation of Seattle Pacific University Visits XTU


At the invitation of School of Literature and Journalism, Rick, dean of School of Education of Seattle Pacific University, America, headed a delegation of five to our university for academic visit from May 5 to 8. President of XTU Luo He’an met with the delegation.

During the three-day visit, the American guests paid their respect to the Statue of Chairman Mao, looked around the campus and held academic seminar with teachers and students of College of Literature and Journalism. They had in-depth exploration and communications in terms of the foresighted hot topics such as comparative study of Marxism and religion, postmodern literature theory of America and development trend of higher education, compared notes on promoting cooperation, exchanging teachers and students and having regular academic interflows, and reached relevant agreement.

Dr. Daniel • Rebela and Dr. Suzanne •Kaevuori gave academic lecture to teachers and students of College of Literature and Journalism, titled Marxism and Christianity and Walker Percy: Voice of American Post-modernism respectively. Based on the origin of western culture, Dr. Daniel illuminated the two different humanist thoughts of Marxism and Christianity, and advocated effective dialogues between different thoughts and cultures in the context of globalization. Taking the third space as the theme, Dr. Suzanne explored problems of “loss of voice” and “self-search” in post-modern environment.

Seattle Pacific University lies in Seattle, the first largest city of State of Washington, USA. Founded in 1891, it is an institution of higher learning grounded on Christian doctrine. The university has several schools such as School of Education, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business & Economics, School of Health Sciences and School of Theology, and has been awarded one of the Best American Universities by the well-known news magazine News and World Report.
