XTU Selected among “China-Africa Universities 20+20 Cooperation Plan”



The opening ceremony of “Cooperation Program on 20+20 China-Africa Universities”, held by the Ministry of Education (MOE), took place in Southern Medical University of Guangzhou on June 2, 2010. Liu Changgeng, Vice President of Xiangtan University headed the chiefs of International Exchange Office and Research Center of African Laws for the ceremony. On behalf of leaders of XTU and other 19 selected universities, Vice President Liu witnessed the whole process of the opening ceremony.


“China-Africa Universities 20+20 Cooperation Plan” is the cooperation plan in terms of China and African education in line with the “Sharm el Sheikh Action Plan” made by the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt in November 2009. After several rounds of selection, MOE chose thirty eight qualified universities including Beijing University and Tsinghua University, and then picked twenty of them to conduct cooperation with African counterparts. Hunan University and Xiangtan University of Hunan Province were among the list.


At the ceremony, leaders from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Guangdong Province extended congratulations to the chosen universities. Hao Ping, Vice Minister of MOE, attended the ceremony and delivered a key-note speech. And he emphasized the significance of China-Africa cooperation, promised strong support of SOE to the program and developed “package plan”.
