Student from XTU Won Championship of IBF Super Series
On September 18, the China Masters of International Badminton Federation (IBF) Super Series closed its curtain in Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province. Xia Huan, a student majoring in administration management from School of Public Administration of Xiangtan University and her partner Tang Jinhua won the championship of women’s doubles.
The match, serving as a major event of the Badminton Points Race of 2012 London Olympic Games, attracted 230 players from 19 countries and regions. The champions of 5 individual events in 2011 London World Champion and the top ten players in men’s doubles and wemen’s doubles competed in the race, and China sent its most competitive teams. Four students from our university, namely Bao Chunlai majoring in administration management, Chai Biao majoring in administration management, Bao Yixin majoring in law and Xiahuan won the qualification.
In the Round of 16, Xia Huan and Tang Jinhua beat Maeda Miyuki and Satoko Suetsuna who ranked the second in the world out of expectation with 2-1. They came back to win 2-1 during the Round of 8 against the No. Eight seeded players Cheng Shu and Pan Pan. In the semifinals, they smashed the No. Three seeded players Mizuku Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa who ranked the third in the world with the score of 2-0. In the finals, they defeated their senior team in the national team Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli, the No. 1 team in the world and won the gold medal. In addition, Bao Yixin and Zhong Qianxin entered the top eight in women’s doubles.
