Professors from Wayne State University Visited XTU



On the morning of Nov 13, Prof. Charles Manke, dean of Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Prof. Yinlun Huang from Wayne State University in America paid a visit to Xiangtan University, and conducted exchange and discussion of joint cultivation pattern of undergraduates and graduates.


In Room 208 of the A Building of School of Chemical Industry Engineering, Prof. Charles Manke and Prof. Yinlun Huang held a discussion meeting with over 30 students from School of Chemical Industry Engineering and School of Chemistry. Charles Manke briefed on the education mission, school scale, humanity history and branch superiority, while Mr. Yinlun Huang elaborated on the operation method, application requirement and expenditure of the “3 plus 2” school-running model. The students inquired about such issues as “fund for studying abroad”, “scholarship and financial aid”. 


Afterwards, at the No. 1 Meeting Room of Foreign Student Apartment, Chen Xiaoming, school-level supervisor of Xiangtan University carried out negotiation and discussion of joint cultivation pattern of undergraduates and graduates. Both sides introduced teaching and scientific research of their university respectively, and conducted in-depth discussion of recruitment number, study cost and launching time.


Both Mr. Chen Xiaoming and Charles Manke stated that since joint running of schools conduces to personnel cultivation against the background of educational globalization, they expected fruitful cooperation at an early date.


Wayne State University, a public four-year university in America, was established in 1868 in Detroit, Michigan. The university offers more than 350 academic courses, including 126 bachelor-degree programs and 139 master-degree programs. In addition, there are 60 doctoral specialties and 32 professional training programs. At present, over 21,000 undergraduates and 13,750 graduates study on the campus, enjoying strong strength in various research fields. Every year, the research fund excels 200 million yuan. Awarded as the Top 50 public research university by National Science Foundation, United States, the university cooperates with more than 40 institutions of higher learning over the world.
