A Research Team of XTU Selected in “Cheung Kong Scholars Program and the Promotion Project for Crea
Recently, the Ministry of Education released the name list of 2011 “Cheung Kong Scholars Program and the Promotion Project for Creative Teams”. The research team of “Numerical Methods for Differential Equations and Biological Computing” led by the distinguished professors of Hunan "Furong Scholar Program" Prof. Yu Zuguo from School of Mathematics and Computational Science of Xiangtan University received a financial aid of 3 million RMB. It is the second one of its kind approved by the Ministry of Education.
Relying on the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Computing & Information Processing, the Ministry of Education, Hunan Key Laboratory for Computation & Simulation in Science and Engineering, taking the national key discipline computational mathematics and the doctoral program of first-level discipline mathematics as platforms, the team of “Numerical Methods for Differential Equations and Biological Computing” combines the national key requirements and local economic development, combines talent cultivation and discipline construction, combines fundamental research and applied research, and takes numerical methods for differential equations, biological mathematics and data processing of environment as objects of study. Prof. Huang Yunqing, Prof. Xu Jinchao. Prof. Shu Shi, Prof. Li Jichun, Prof. Xiao Aiguo and Prof. Liu Hailiang serve as the backbones of the team.
Launched by the Ministry of Education in 2004, “Cheung Kong Scholars Program and the Promotion Project for Creative Teams” aims to attract, select and cultivate a group of academic leaders with internationally advanced expertise for enhancing cultivation of high-level talents in colleges and universities, form a batch of outstanding innovative teams, and push forward the strategy of bettering schools by talents. By way of granting financial support to the excellent innovative teams, the program helps to give better play to the investment returns of innovative platforms of institutions of higher learning, offer sustained support to outstanding innovative teams, create teamwork and equivalent effects of outstanding talents, upgrade innovative ability and competitiveness of scientific and technical personnel in colleges and universities, and promote high-level universities and construction of key disciplines.
