Substantial Results Yielded in Legal Exchange & Cooperation
From Feb. 16 to 18, the four-member delegation from University of Massachusetts (UMASS), consisted of Professor Bill, advisor of University of Massachusetts (UMASS), Judge Peter Anderson, director of Sino-US Legal Exchange Program of Massachusetts Judges Association and another two experts came to Xiangtan University to negotiate further and all-round cooperation with our college. Xie Yong, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial Peoples Congress, Li Bochao, deputy secretary of Xiangtan University Party, and Liu Changgeng, vice president of Xiangtan University met with the American guests.
In the recent three years, School of Law of XTU, University of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Judges Association have successively held such high-level international conferences with high standard and large scale as Sino-U.S. Forum on Evidence Law, Sino-U.S. Forum on Jury System, Sino-US ADR Seminar and Training Program, and published series books on legal exchanges of China and America. In addition, they established several international exchange platforms including Sino-US Legal Exchange Center of Xiangtan University, theoretical research & talent training center of multi-solving mechanism of social disputes of Xiangtan University. In January 2012, with the approval and support of Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Zhou Qiang, our university and Hunan Provincial Department of Justice jointly set up Hunan Theoretical Research & Talent Training Center of Meditation. It was the first multi-functional organization of China jointly organized by university and government integrating scientific research, practice, training and service. More than 40 media such as Guangming Online (http://www.gmw.cn/), China Law (http://www.law.cn/), People’s Court Daily, Hunan Daily and Hunan TV covered the event, enjoying good responses from the academic and substantive circles.
