China---Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Investment Law Seminar Opened in Our University
In the afternoon of September 17th, China---Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Investment Law Seminar was held in our university. Attendants included Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice President of China Law Society Chen Jiping, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Peoples Congress Zhou Qiang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Peoples Congress Xie Yong, Vice Governor Li Youzhi, President of the Hunan Provincial Higher Peoples Court Kang Weimin, Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Hunan Province Gong Jiahe, and foreign guests such as Lesotho Justice Minister Edward Haae Phoofolo, General Secretary of Justice Department of the Comoros Government Hussam Mohammed Madi and so on. The opening ceremony was hosted by Executive Vice President of China Law Society Chen Yang.
There are more than 100 guests attended this seminar, including more than 40 foreign guests from 13 Eastern and Southern Africa countries such as Nigeria, Mozambique, Uganda and so on, related officials of central ministries and commissions, specifically, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the National Peoples Congress, Legal Affairs Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Commerce, Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, related officials from Hunan Provincial Education Department, Justice Department and Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Province, and legal scholars, front-line workers.
China---Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Investment Law Seminar is a high standard international seminar attended by Chinese and African legal professionals and an important constituent of China-Africa legal forum. This seminar is sponsored by China Law Society, and hosted by Hunan Law Society and Xiangtan University. The theme of this seminar is to “Reinforce Legal Cooperation and Achieve Mutual Benefit”. Legal professionals will discuss bilateral trade and investment cooperation from legal perspective and display the important function of law in protecting the development of economy.
In the evening of September 17th, delegates took part in the China-Africa Pragmatic Cooperation Talkfest -----“Zero-Distance Contact”. During the talkfest delegates discussed themes such as “Introduction of Trade and Investment Legal System”, “The Legal Precaution and Succor of Investment Risk”, “Legal Service in Trade and Investment”, and “Distinct China-Africa Dispute Resolution Mechanism”. The seminar will be closed in the afternoon of September 19th.
