Forum on English and Chinese Cultures Unveiled in XTU
The opening ceremony & theme report of the 2013 Forum on English and Chinese Cultures was held in the Lecture Hall of Yifu Building, Xiangtan University on November 1. Pan Wenguo, president of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese and Zheng Chijian, vice president of Xiangtan University attended the conference. More than 40 experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Nanjing University and Beijing Foreign Studies University participated in the forum.
The forum was hosted by China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese and undertaken by Xiangtan University. During the two-day forum, centering on nine topics, the participating scholars conducted in-depth discussion and exchange. The topics were cultural interaction study under the context of globalization, heritage of cultural classics in intercultural perspective, study of intercultural communication and translation, national cultural policies and comparative study of English and Chinese, similarities and difference of English and Chinese cultures, cognitive research on English and Chinese cultures, semantic contrast study of English and Chinese cultures, comparative study of English and Chinese as second language acquisition, and comparative study of core terms of English and Chinese cultures.
