XTU Delegation Visits Makerere University
XTU Discipline Inspection Committee Secretary Gao Xieping led a delegation to visit Makerere University (MAK) of Uganda, an African partner, from April 26 to 30, 2017. They attended the third MAK Confucius Institute board meeting, and discussed the “3+1” international Chinese language education project with the Ugandan counterpart.
Secretary Gao met with MAK President John Ddumba Ssentamu on April 27 local time. He spoke highly of the Confucius Institute’s achievements, and expected to extend cooperation with the university.
At the board meeting, the MAK Confucius Institute local director Oswald Ndoleriire summarized the 2016 work, and Chinese dean Hong Yonghong reported the 2017 work plan. They discussed the local Chinese teacher training program, leaving and coming teacher transition, and the “3+1” cooperative project.
At the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, Gao briefed on the development conditions of the Confucius Institute within the “20+20 Cooperation Plan of Chinese and African Institutions of Higher Education”. Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuqiang praised the cooperative results made between the two universities, and believed the cooperation can not only promote Chinese education and culture, but also boost the two schools’ discipline construction, and furthermore, push forward the implementation of the “20+20 Cooperation Plan”.
Gao also called on the Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Counselor Zhao Xiufen, and extended appreciation for the Ministry of Commerce support to building the Confucius Institute.
