Now the gradual disappearance of ancient civilizations faces the world, but it is a miracle that Chinese characters have been inherited and improved. Chinese character is an important carrier of Chinese culture. A profound understanding of Chinese culture, way of thinking and philosophical thought can be achieved through Chinese characters and calligraphy. As an overseas window to Chinese language and culture, Confucius Institute has the responsibility and mission to promote Chinese culture to the world and serves as a bridge for communications between China and Spain, and China and León. The calligraphy and lettering exhibition helps deepen understanding of Chinese and Spanish society, culture, and economy.
The delegation head Mr. Ma Tianbao stated that more than 30 pieces of works created by 12 calligraphers were exhibited. The calligraphers with high artistic creativity are members of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and renowned artists from Chinese provinces and cities. After the opening ceremony, two calligraphers of the delegation wrote calligraphy works on site and presented them to the León City Government and Confucius Institute at the University of León.
