4th Council Meeting of XTU Confucius Institute at Makerere University Convenes

The Fourth Council Meeting of the Confucius Institute at Makerere University was convened at the new office building of Xiangtan University (XTU) on December 15, 2017. CPC Xiangtan University Committee Secretary Huang Yunqing met with a six-member delegation headed by Makerere University Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe before the meeting. CPC Xiangtan University Committee Deputy Secretary Gao Xieping, the Confucius Institute council members of both universities and relevant personnel from XTU International Exchange Center attended.
Secretary Huang welcomed the guests and highly hailed the fruitful work by the Confucius Institute under the 20+20 Cooperation Plan of Chinese and African Institutions of Higher Education. He pointed out that a dual degree (3 + 1) program agreement was signed between the two universities this August, promoting the cooperative education to a higher level. Nawangwe said that with closer cooperation between the two sides, Makerere University has confidence in building the Confucius Institute into the best of its kind in Africa.
