China Confucius Foundation Traditional Cultural Education Committee Delegation Visits XTU
Liu Xiaoting, an inspector, also China Confucius Foundation Traditional Cultural Education Committee deputy director and Hunan Institute of Socialism (Hunan College of Chinese Culture) former vice president, conducted an academic exchange with other guests at XTU on June 13, 2018. XTU Vice President Liu Jianping extended his warm welcome to the guests. They had an in-depth discussion on how to introduce social forces to rebuild the Biquan Academy.
Relevant person in charge of the Department of Philosophy introduced the opening and running of Chinese classics curriculums at XTU, and explained the situation of Biquan Academy’s reconstruction. With the support of leaders at all levels of Hunan Province and Xiangtan City, and those from all walks of life, the reconstruction work is in progress in an orderly manner. It is expected to hold a grand opening ceremony on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Xiangtan University.
Inspector Liu believed that Biquan Academy is the source of Huxiang learning. Its reconstruction is an important measure to promote the essence of traditional Chinese culture. XTU is a comprehensive university with profound history in literature, history and philosophy, and strong teaching team. Rebuilding the Biquan Academy is an important measure to inherit and pass on the Huxiang culture. Liu said that he is always willing to actively play his part in introducing the successful rebuilding models and experiences of Yunshan Academy and Nanxuan Academy into Biquan Academy.
Cheng Zhengbiao, Hunan Provincial Confucius School Promotion and Steering Committee Executive deputy director and Shaoshan Nan’an Institute of Chinese Classics professor, Chen Xingxin, Hunan Provincial Confucius School Promotion and Steering Committee Publicity Department deputy chief, and Yang Jing, Hunan Provincial Confucius School Promotion and Steering Committee deputy secretary general also joined the visit. XTU Chinese classics teaching team members participated in the discussion.
