XTU Included in First Group of National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers
The list of the first group of National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers in colleges and universities was announced on the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA) official website on January 28. After rounds of selection, XTU became one of the first group of 23 national IP information service centers.
The XTU Intellectual Property Institute was established in December 2008, and is the one and only of its kind in Hunan Province. In the past ten years, it has been committed to cultivating the comprehensive intellectual property talents for the society. It has achieved remarkable results in scientific research, personnel training, social service and decision-making consulting, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Its talent-training model has been hailed by the industry as the “XTU Model”. On December 2, 2015, NIPA issued a document entitled “Significant Achievements in the Innovative Intellectual Property Talents Training Model of Xiangtan University”, and introduced the XTU model to the Central Talent Working Group, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Culture.
The application was led by the XTU Library and supported by the Intellectual Property Institute and the Office of Science and Technology. In 2004, the “XTU Science and Technology Search Station” was established and located inside the library. In January 2008, the “Intellectual Property Information Service Center” was established. After years of hard work, the library, together with the Intellectual Property Institute, has established a relatively complete Chinese and foreign languages scientific and technological literature information and resources system; and powerful patent search and analysis system. In recent years, the library has presided over 16 national and provincial scientific research projects and published more than 170 research papers. Among them, there were 66 published by CSSCI journals or reproduced by the Renmin University of China Materials Copy Center, and more than 30 national, provincial, and municipal awards.
