Doctoral Student Chen Manfang’s Research Paper Excites International Chemistry Circle


Chen Manfang, a 2016 doctoral student at the College of Chemistry, Xiangtan University, recently published her research results on Journal of Materials Chemistry A, ranking top 5% among the international journals. Tilted “Perovskite-type La0.56Li0.33TiO3 as an effective polysulfide promoter for stable lithium-sulfur batteries in lean electrolyte conditions”(J. Mater. Chem. A, 2019, 7, 10293-10302), her paper studied the construction and preparation of cathode materials for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries. Since the paper was published, it has been highly regarded by international peers and assessed as hot paper of the Journal of Materials Chemistry A in 2019.

The achievement is part of the research work on positive electrode materials in key technology R&D and loading demonstration of the high-security long-life high-energy lithium-sulfur power battery, a 2018 national key R&D program undertaken by Professor Wang Xianyou. Supervised by Professor Wang, Chen Manfang skillfully designed a perovskite-type fast ion conductor La0.56Li0.33TiO3 (LLTO) as a polysulfide adsorbent and a polysulfide conversion catalyst to prepare a new high-performance lithium-sulfur battery. This research provides a new idea for the development of high performance lithium-sulfur batteries.
