Vice Premier Sun Chunlan Inspects Xiangtan University

The 2019 International Chinese Language Education Conference kicked off in Changsha on December 9. Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended and delivered a keynote speech.
Vice Premier Sun pointed out that countries worldwide have become increasingly interconnected, and exchanges and cooperation in politics, economy, trade, and humanities have become more extensive, thanks to the extensive development of world multipolarization, economic globalization, social informatization, and cultural diversification. China has deeply integrated into the world in the process of opening up, which has also brought opportunities for the development of various countries. More and more people have come to China for business cooperation, study exchanges, and sightseeing. Language is the bridge of communication. The demand for Chinese learning in various countries continues to be strong, and Chinese talents are increasingly welcomed. Many countries now include Chinese learning in their national education systems, offer Chinese courses in primary and secondary schools, and support enterprises and social organizations to participate in Chinese education. This helps promote Chinese-foreign humanities exchanges, mutual learning among civilizations, and mutual understandings.
During her stay in Hunan, Sun visited the Changsha Social Work College to learn more about professionals training about elderly care, maternal and child care, and social work. She then went to Xiangtan University to inspect Marxist theoretical and mathematical disciplines construction and scientific research. She asked for thoroughly implementing President Xi Jinping’s important statement on education; conscientiously carrying out the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council made on vigorously developing higher education in the central and western regions; focusing on national and regional development needs; optimizing the discipline and professional structures; and, expanding professional personnel training scale on such sectors as the elderly and childcare, to support economic and social development.
